CB Update: TA Reached PDF Print E-mail
Written by SBTA Bargaining Team
Friday, 27 May 2011 02:07
Summary:

On May 26 the SBTA and District negotiating teams signed a tentative agreement on the following items:

  • Contingency language for the possible implementation of furlough days for the 2011-2012 school year. The number of furlough days, if any, will be determined by the revenue limit funding per ADA that the District receives from the state. If the Governor's currently proposed budget is approved, there will not be a need for furlough days.
  • Modified class size contract language will be suspended until the State restores education funding.

Details of the TA will be distributed as part of the ratification process. Ballots will be at school sites on Tuesday, May 31st. Ballots are due at your site's designated collection area by 3:00 pm Friday, June 3. An SBTA rep will be responsible for delivering the ballots to the SBTA office by 4:00 pm of that same day.

There will be a general membership meeting in the San Marcos High School auditorium on Wednesday, June 1 at 3:30 pm. Members are encouraged to attend to ask questions and/or voice concerns about the TA.

Further explanation:
The SBTA crafted an agreement that we believe will allow the School Board to rescind, at least, a majority of RIF notices after the June 14, 2011 Board meeting.

With the uncertainty of the adoption of the state budget, the SBTA negotiating team, in collaboration with the District's negotiating team, defined parameters that will allow the District to make essential staffing decisions during the next few weeks while delaying the possibility of furlough days.

No decisions on furlough days will be made until a budget is adopted. The chart below shows possible scenarios, per the TA, for 2011-2012 furlough days:

Funding Loss Per ADA # of Furlough Days
$19 - $150 0
$150 - $250 3
$250 - $330
5
$330 - $550 7
$550- $769 10
